Irene has BABCP accreditation and has been working as a Counsellor and Cognitive-Behavioural Psychotherapist since 2000. She has also been working as an associate lecturer since 2004. She has a Bachelors degree with Honours in Psychology & Sociology, a Masters degree in Humanistic Counselling and a further Masters degree in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy. She also has level 1 & 2 training in EMDR.
She has worked in various settings, for example, Psychotherapy Department, National Health Service (NHS), Unit for Psychotherapeutic Practice (University of Derby). She has also worked in a Psychiatric Department (Greek National Health Service). She has been working within the private sector since 2003. From 2004 to 2010 she has been a Lecturer and Clinical Supervisor for the MSc course in CBP and the IAPT (Increase Access to Psychological Therapies) programme at the University of Derby & The University of Hull (until 2011).
She is presently working towards completing a Doctorate of Practice in CBP. Her research is focused on low self- esteem and perfectionism.
Irene is an Accredited member of the BABCP and EMDR UK & Ireland. She is working within the guidelines of these bodies and she has full professional indemnity cover. She receives regular clinical supervision from an Accredited CBP therapist to ensure that she delivers ethical and effective services.
Since september 2011 she moved to Athens, Greece. She continues her clinical practice and is teaching CBP in Colleges.
